If
you are purely looking for a golf instructional book, then you would be
better off getting your hands on Ben Hogan's The
Modern Fundamentals of Golf! as this is the best golf book
there is!
Having said that, Ben Hogan's Power Golf book
was written in 1948
and is an excellent read. Packed full of amazing photographs, it shows
all aspects of Ben Hogan's golf swing before his tragic car
accident in 1949 and consequent swing transformation.
Just looking at the photos alone will astound you as to the incredible
positions that Hogan used to get himself into, and although 'Power
Golf' is often overshadowed by 'The
Modern Fundamental of Golf', it still has its place
on the bookshelf of the true golf
addict! |
Power
Golf offers Hogans wisdom on other more subtle areas of the golf
game, including shotmaking, and
walks you through all of the skills that Ben
Hogan acquired during his
years as a Champion golfer, showing you how to master the famous Hogan
grip for example, which enabled him to generate so much power in his
golf swing. This excellent Ben Hogan book explains why a balanced stance is so
important and he teaches you how
to achieve it!
As well as learning what a winning backswing
and
downswing looks like, and how to achieve greater distance with your
fairway
woods. Ben Hogan's Power Golf also explains why iron
shots are so important to your game
and shows you how to aquire the proper techniques and skills to accomplish greater accuracy with them.
He also
covers bunker shots, uphill / downhill lies, how to minimize the number
of putts you make and how to conquer playing in the wind and rain.
Written by the man himself, i would certainly recommend Ben Hogan's
Power Golf to anyone looking for a timeless piece of history
and a
great education into the mind of one of the greatest golfers of all
time!
