Alto Golf Course Review

Alto golf course is located in Portugal’s Western Algarve, between Alvor and Praia da Rocha, approximately 5 km from the city of Portimao and is a part of the exclusive Alto Country club resort.

This Algarve golf course is set in beautifully landscaped gardens, with villas, apartments and townhouses, many of which have superb views of the sea, the golf course or the fabulous gardens.

The 18-hole, Par 72 golf course, which is over 6,000 meters long was opened in 1991 and was the last to be designed by the legendary Sir Henry Cotton. It still boasts one of the longest holes in the country, the par 5 16th is an absolute monster at 604 meters long!

The course’s winding fairways and elevated greens reflect Sir Henry’s golfing philosophy of providing low handicap players with a testing game whilst still affording plenty of enjoyment for the average players.

Beginners are also welcome at Alto golf course as it provides both a driving range and teaching personnel as an introduction to the game for novices and casual golfers who wish to play whilst on holiday.
