What To Consider When Choosing A Golf Putter
Once you have found the putter of your dreams! you will also need to
make sure that it is the right length for you, most putters will range
from 33" to 36", so find one that fits your natural putting position,
i.e. the stance
and posture you are comfortable with when you address
the ball.
To make sure that the putter is the correct length for you, check
that
the sole of the putter head is flat on the ground when assuming your
natural
putting setup position. If the toe end is raised slightly, then
the putter is too long and if the heal end is raised then the putter is
too short.
The consequences of having a putter that is not the right length can be
dramatic, you will be surprised at the incredible difference it
makes to your consistency and ball striking.......just remember not to
adjust your stance and putting posture to fit the putter, the putter
needs to fit you!
Another
thought you may want to consider, especially if you play most
of your golf on one particular course, is the speed of the greens. If
your greens are relatively slow then choosing a putter with more
weight would certainly make sense, on the other hand if they are
considered to be fairly quick then a lighter model would be better.
The green speed will also have an influence on the putter loft that you
choose, if the greens are heavier and rougher you
will benefit from choosing a golf putter with a higher loft, as
this wil help with gaining some initial momentum.
