Titleist AP2 710 Golf Irons Review

Titleist AP2 710 Forged Golf Irons Review Image The new Titleist AP2 710 Forged Irons have been created for the serious golfer, with their classic blade looks and improved feel and playability for excellent shot control, these multi material, dual cavity forged irons use the very latest ground-breaking technology.

With the original AP2 Irons becoming the number one irons used on the PGA Tour during the 2008 & 2009 season, there is no doubt that the improvements to overall feel and performance levels in the new AP2 710 Irons, will prove to be highly successful.

You will find the new Titleist AP2 710 Forged Irons contain all the ingredients and characteristics that true golfers require, and will have you playing with more confidence and style than ever before.

Titleist understand what aspiring golfers are looking for in a set of performance Irons! They know that providing players with advanced performance in terms of distance and shot control is just simply not good enough anymore. Serious golfers want exceptional feel as well, and not performance at the expense of feel. By conducting extensive research on sound and vibration analysis, they have managed to reduce the harsh lower frequency vibrations that causes poor feel in irons.

The main body of the new Titleist AP2 710 Irons is forged from a soft carbon steel material, and has two cavities either side of a central bar. This design along with a slightly thinner face helps to push the weight more towards the perimeter of the clubhead for advanced playability without loss of shot shaping. The bottom cavity is laser welded together with a high density tungsten nickel box, while the top cavity is fitted with a co-molded medallion of soft elastomer and aluminum plate.

The high density tungsten nickel box positions weight deeper and towards the sole of the clubhead and the central bar gives the clubhead structural stability behind the impact area. This provides you with a solid ball strike, lowers the center of gravity and increases the moment of inertia, for more stability, greater distance potential and increased forgiveness.

The co-molded medallion of soft elastomer and aluminum plate inserted into the top cavity, which is also referred to by Titleist as their 'Tuned Feel System', helps to improve sound and amplify positive feedback by dampening vibrations. This helps to inspire confidence, as we all know how good it feels when the ball just seems to fly effortlessly off the clubface.

Titleist have also made the top line on the new Titleist AP2 710 Forged Irons thinner to make them more aesthetically pleasing to the eye and reduced the amount of bounce by up to 1% on the shorter irons, from 7 iron down to GW. This is a result of feedback from the Tour, and although only a subtle change, it makes a significant difference to the control and feel of the shot when making contact with the turf and ball.

The new Titleist AP2 710 Forged Irons are for serious golfers who want everything that a traditional blade club has to offer, plus the addition of exceptional feel and more forgiveness across the entire clubface. However, if you are a mid-high handicapper and would like even more forgiveness then the new Titleist AP1 710 Irons might be preferred choice.
