Golf Putting Strokes - Arc or Pendulum? Find Out Which Is The Easiest Putting Stroke To Master

There are many different styles and preferences to choose from when it comes to your overall golf putting technique, like a choice of golf putting grip, ball position, stance, posture, etc but really only two main golf putting strokes that are consistently effective.

These two effective golf putting strokes that I am referring to are the Arc putting stroke and the Pendulum putting stroke. The Arc putting stroke tends to involve more use of the arms, hands and wrists, and so requires a lot more skill to get right every time.

The Pendulum putting stroke however is a simple straight back and straight through motion just like the movement of a pendulum in a grandfather clock, keeping the face square to target at all times.

Easiest Golf Putting Stroke To Master!

The Pedulum golf putting stroke only requires the use of your shoulders to tilt up and down, keeping the arms, wrists and hands quiet. This makes it the easiest putting stroke to master, easpecially for beginners or players with less experience.

To apply the Pendulum golf putting stroke, it is first important to make sure that your eyes are looking directly over the golf ball, by leaning forward from the hips and using your spine as the axis, so you are getting an accurate perspective of the correct line.

Then start your back swing by lifting your back shoulder up and forward shoulder down, until you have reached the desired length of back swing. Make sure you keep the putter face square at all times and along the path of the target line. There should be minimal arm, wrist or hand action, think of them only as an extension of the putter.

To initiate the forward swing your shoulders need to start moving in the reverse order. It is important to make sure that this transition is smooth and with you own natural rhythm and tempo, just like the pendulum of a grandfather clock. The forward swing should be the same length and take the same time to reach as the back swing.

Once you have mastered this very effective golf putting stroke, all you will then need to worry about is picking the right line and controlling the distance of your putts by lengthening or shortening your pendulum putting stroke as required.
